Heroes [Jan. 24th, 2010|08:41 pm]
People will say that my generation grew up without heroes. Presidents have been found to break the law, have affairs, and disappoint the people who elected them. Sports stars cheat the games they played, and themselves. Movie and music stars take drugs, and die early.

I am blessed in that I got to have a hero in my life. He was a quite unassuming man with an amazing strength, and dignity. He was a patriot who was a warrior healer serving as a Surgical Technician in World War Two and fighting in the Battle of the Bulge in which he earned the Bronze Star. For those who are unaware the Bronze Star is 4th highest honor the US Military can bestow upon someone. This is something I did not know about until he passed away because a hero does not brag about their accomplishments.

He worked a career in which he was passionate about. Writers, professionals golfers, fellow designers respected and admired him. He was intelligent, humble, and kind. He shared in his knowledge and his experience but never forced it upon anyone.

He loved his family. His wife, the love of his life for 54 years of marriage and continued to love her after she passed away. A small simple arrangement of photos displayed in the living room with a simple note "To Betty from Phil your loving husband always". 6 Children, 10 Grandchildren, and 12 Great grandchildren at current writing are part of his legacy.

I will always hold dear those lessons my Grandfather taught me. Perhaps one of the most dear is that in his family he always tried to see what was best in them and nourish and support that.

Lost stuff [May. 17th, 2009|12:43 pm]
Follow the twisted logic train.

Richard Alpart (SP): Creepy not aging guy. Possibly a hint he represents Ra egyptian God of the Sun. Ra was protected by Seth. Seth is the Egyptian God of Choas and disorder. Richard has said he is the way he is because of Jacob. Jacob who is trying to utilize choice, change or chaos rather then destiny.

Horace: Leader of the Dharma project. Possibly representing Horus with whom Seth warred. Not sure how he died since Horus ultimately defeats Seth. Horus is also the son of Osirus who was killed by Seth then remade and impregnanted Isis so Horus could be born.

Some more Seth/Set stuff: Animals sacred to Seth were the desert oryx, the crocodile, the boar, and the destructive hippopotamus.

Could it be that the "other guy" is supposed to be Horus since he represents Order. While Jacob is Seth representing choas. The Dharma project was orderly the Others were chaotic. The origional survivors were at first split between orderly thought and disorder, then the Lord of the flies side of the island.

It doesn't lead to anything else for me yet, but I figured it might lead to who is on what "side" for my backgammon game theroy.

HI-Larity [Mar. 10th, 2009|11:57 pm]
Warning: The following is not entirely informed since I am out of the loop on most things Cam, but tend to spew my opinion anyways...

Mightyfinn Journal:
"Cam carcass in alley this morning, reset treads on burst stomach. The coordinators are afraid of me. I have seen MC's true face. The approvals system are extended gutters and the gutters are full of cheese and when the drains finally scab over, all the DOTS will drown. The accumulated filth of all their cheddar and guda will foam up about their waists and all the powergamers and rules lawyers will look up and shout "Save Us!"...:
...and I'll look down, and whisper, "No".

Honestly I took a quick look at the reset rules and said hmmm interesting. The Rorschach quote is because of his status on not compromising. I almost feel like they tried to compromise too much and as a result no one is happy. Although no one is ever happy. People who didn't want a reset are unhappy. People who wanted a hard reset are unhappy, and people who got what they wanted, well they are happy but I digress.

The club was in a tough spot whatever decision they made a good portion of people were gonna be pissed and they took the way that really makes the most sense. People who have worked hard on characters and looked for RP keep their characters. People who have focused on cheese lose their cheese, which really should be removed in the first place.

Not sure if it is enough to bring me back to the Cam to see how it runs post reset, but it is the first time I have really looked into anything Cam/NWoD related in about a year.

Awaiting potential Flame On.

Cats looking for a home [Feb. 14th, 2009|03:32 pm]
My Sister has to get rid of her cats.
The babies and the felines are not playing well with each other.

O'malley is 6 years old and is declawed indoor male neutered part maine coon tabby.
Bandit is almost 5 years old and is declawed indoor male neutered Siamese-grey-house mix.

I have pictures available if people would like to see them send me a comment or an email, but I am hoping to find them a home rather then having to have them sent to an animal shelter.

Take Care All.

Awesome or rather absolutely not [Jan. 18th, 2009|02:39 pm]
I now know a fraction of Rakin's pain.
My lovely wofe wakes me this morning with "There are some weird neoises downstairs."

Now at first I am thinking "Intruder..Kill Mode"
Then she clarifies "It sounds like water."

So I go downstairs to the basement and enter "Waterworld" sans Kevin Costner.
No fewer then 4 pipes appear to be spewing water.
I begin trying to turn nobs which might lead to the pipe with no luck until I kill them water coming from the water heater. Thankfully Andi woke me early because the basement was only a 1/4 flooded. It looks like it was only 1 pipe that burst in the wall.

Upon further review it looks like one of the pipes to the outside water spigot bust. Now before someone gives me the sage like advice that I should have shut off the outside and drained it and I am forced to kill them, when whatever genius did the plumbing over to this pipe, they did not include a valve to shut it off. So yes I looked to try to do this with zero luck.

So I shut down the water, and thankfully Andi's cousin is a plumber and coming to look at the pipes tomorrow. Also the in law apartment is on separate piping and Mom is gone until tomorrow, and I have tomorrow off so hopefully we can fix it before major issues begin.

Thankfully Josh and Lauren came over for brunch to took my mind off the disaster for a while.

Hope all is well with my Peeps.

News [Nov. 4th, 2008|03:57 pm]
So I voted today. For Obama, which had you told me a year ago I would not vote for Mcain, I would have laughed at you.

That however is not the news. The news is my wonderful wife is pregnant!
We are expecting the child in May, she won't let me find out the gender, but as long as the kid is healthy I will be happy.

Hopefully things are good in everyone elses neck of the woods.

On the fence no longer! [Oct. 17th, 2008|07:11 pm]
Really it has more to do with the fact he has a solid economic plan then the quote, but I would be lying if I didn't say the quote helped hell he has a sense of humor, and can quote comic geekery:

Said Obama: "Contrary to the rumors you have heard, I was not born in a manger. I was actually born on Krypton and sent here by my father, Jor-el, to save the planet Earth," a reference to Superman.
